Ravenna Owners unite! An idea is born for the foyer!

We are now 13 months into our new Ravenna.  I still love it.
Shortly after moving in, I built two picture ledges (found at AnnaWhite.com).  I liked them but always felt there was better use for this 7+ foot wall then two picture ledges.  Not to mention, where the hell do we put jackets, hats, and what not when walking in the front door.  Or for guest's stuff.
I found this on Pinterest....yeah yeah yeah, I peruse Pinterest.  Ran it by the wife and she likey.  So I jumped on it.
Tada

I originally planned on 6 hooks, BUT 16" O.C. studs don't line up right if I wanted to hide the mounting screws BEHIND the hooks.  So 5 hooks it is.  We may add more down the road, time will tell.  I can say that 5 hooks works nice without having coats "stacked" on each other.

Again, sorry for the bad pics.  A photographer I'm not.

P.S. Thanks to your dumpster diving tips, I have gotten the blueprints to the house and all kinds of wood that I have no idea what I will do with yet. ;-)

    1. You are the second or third person to tell me they went dumpster diving after reading my "tips". haha. I found a great use for the 2x6's I yanked out of the dumpster by using them as the "floor" of my cedar planters. OSB becomes shelves. 2x4's become shelving structure. etc.... :)

  3. Love it... I love the bright paint on that wall too. I have been struggling with entry way options for the the Courtland... the only logical place for hooks, etc is the laundry room, which is soooo small.

    1. We have a closet by the garage door, but putting jackets in and out sucks. There are jackets hanging that you sometimes use that jumble up the ones you pull in and out regularly. Then when friends come over and use the front door, where do we put their stuff? Ravenna's have no front door closet. So this seemed like the nicest, classiest option.

    1. I just realized you probably have a basement...I think the closet is where the basement stairs would be. We are building in TN, and there aren't too many basements here!

  5. I'm trying to plan a similar thing, but I have a church pew (from my great-great-grandfather's church) in that spot and I have windows from my grandparents house to put above the shelf. Plus, I'm thinking I want something I can move. Is that too weird?
